Despite its reputation as a theme park centre, this Florida city has so much more to offer. There are lovely parks and gardens, museums, loads of golf courses, shopping and outlet malls, bewildering options for eating out and great nightlife.
Theme parks are of course likely to be on the agenda for any group holiday in Orlando. They are mostly focused on families of course, but adults will find plenty to keep them amused at Universal Studios and Universal’s Islands of Adventure. Other favourite attractions include SeaWorld Orlando and Old Town, a park with Americana as its theme. Orlando also has a lot to offer group holiday parties that want to get away from the big tourist attractions. Two very different experiences that are easy to fit into during even a short break are Harry P. Leu Gardens, with 50 acres of gardens, fountains and trails in downtown Orlando, and iFly Orlando that offers indoor skydiving. The Farmer's Market at Lake Eola Park is something with a local flavour minutes from the theme parks.
For nightlife in a convenient location, but with a very mainstream feel, consider Universal City Walk. In this one site you will find cinemas, restaurants, bars and a club or two (although they only stay open until 2.00am). Bars are of course especially popular in the USA and Orlando is no exception. There’s the Ice Bar if you don’t mind the cold, and Hanson’s Shoe Repair, which has a speakeasy theme and regular live music, but the need to call ahead to book your group party in. You can also visit Church Street, which has three bars as part of the same complex: Latitudes, Chillers and Big Belly. Clubs include the Stardust Lounge, which is a club, bar, pool hall and burlesque show all in one, Venue 578, Vixon, Vanity and Blue Martini. And for some good ole’ country music (live and from DJs) get down to Cowboys Orlando.
It’s a town very focused on tourism and hospitality, so you won’t struggle to find a hotel for your group holiday in Orlando. The various Rosen Inn hotels are usually a good bet and between them have a range of prices, all with generally good customer service. There are dozens more to choose from, so let us know what sort of hotel you want and your price bracket and we can help.
