Nightlife

London NightlifeDeep in the heart of London, look out for pubs and bars that are making an effort to really impress visitors. Places like the Euston Cider Tap (yes, it’s a cider lover’s heaven), the Dog & Duck in Soho (still with plenty of old world charm) and The Harp Bar in Covent Garden (the place to go for superb real ales) are worthy of your short break in the capital. With a less traditional feel, there are cool bars such as the Blue Bar at the Berkeley Hotel where you can sink back in luxurious armchairs and enjoy amazing cocktails. Out of the West End, head to Peckham for Frank’s Café, an open-air roof bar that will serve you beer, cocktails and snacks. Be prepared to queue though! When it comes to clubbing for your group holiday or stag/hen weekend, for something different on Thursday to Saturday there are Roller Disco nights at Renaissance Rooms in Vauxhall. Few clubs are open 24 hours but two exceptions are Egg London in King’s Cross and Casino at the Empire in Leicester Square.

What to see

What to see in LondonWhen you are putting together an itinerary for a group holiday in London, think about some out-of-the ordinary things to do. Climbing the spiral staircase to the top of the Monument is great fun, while stargazing at the Royal Observatory can be combined with lunch at one of Greenwich’s many great restaurants. On a Sunday morning, visit the spectacular flower market on Columbia Road or the variety of stalls at Portobello Market on Saturday. More exhilarating is a rope climb over the O2 Arena or a dip in Hampstead Heath’s ice-cold swimming ponds. Throw in a visit to something more familiar such as the London Eye, London Zoo, Madame Tussauds or one of the many museums, such as the Natural History museum for dinosaurs or London Transport Museum for train and bus lovers. And if Her Majesty is on holiday, see inside Buckingham Palace too!
