Nightlife

barcelona nightlifeTapas or the Basque equivalent, pintxos, may well be your choice for dinner and you will have many great dishes to choose from. Euskal Etxea is a stand-out pintxos restaurant. Similarly, La Esquinica is a good example of tapas bars and serves the Catalonian favourite dish, patatas bravas. Seafood is another local speciality and La Mar Salada is a great seafood restaurant to visit.

Drinking in Barcelona is perhaps best enjoyed outdoors at one of the many ‘terraces’ in the summer. However, if visiting a club is part of your plans (and it will be for hen weekends and stag weekends in Barcelona of course), there is plenty of variety in terms of vibes and music styles. Take these four to show what we mean: Marula Café (old school), Magic Club (a sweaty rock club), BeCool (techno) and Jamboree (hip-hop and R’n’B).

What to see

What to see in BarcelonaMost people centre their Barcelona short break around Las Ramblas, the city’s central boulevard. The street has numerous attractions, including the human statues and other street performers. For instance, you will find interesting architecture, dozens of shops and restaurants plus the world famous Boqueria Market. The art and architecture of Gaudi dominates Barcelona in the Gothic Quarter. After that, be sure to visit at least one of his masterpieces, with Sagrada Familia, Park Güell or Casa Batlló being good choices.

We also recommend a trip to the top of Montjuïc, a hill that overlooks the city’s harbour (not far from Barceloneta) or for soccer fans, take a trip to the Camp Nou stadium. But above all, Barcelona is simply a wonderful place to explore with no fixed schedule in mind. Get off the tourist trail and into lesser-visited districts like Horta-Guinardó or Sant Andreu and you will feel like you’ve really experienced one of the world’s great cities.
